Hey guys! So here's another DIY for you guys, this one is comparatively simpler, but I enjoyed doing this one a tiny bit more.
The other day while cleaning my closet, I came around this very pretty denim shirt. What I loved about it were the little details of chicken embroidery on it. Now when I wore it, it was too short for me, and a little tight on the arms *sigh*. I didn't want to throw it/give it away. I have saved it all these years for a purpose and the time had come for me to do something about it and this is what I did..
This is what the shirt looked like before..

| The details on it. |
STEP I:

Equally measure from both the sides of the shoulders, where you would want the strap to start. And at the arm hole, as you deep as you want it to be. Now extend these lines and make them meet at a 90 degree angle. Make a curve around the vertex.
STEP II:
Now using these lines as guides, cut along them, both the sides.
STEP III:
Now for the inner portion, make another marking, this one for the thickness of the strap. I didn't want it too thick, but you can alter it according to what you feel comfortable in.
STEP IV:
From approximately half a centimeter above the second button, make a straight line, perpendicular to the button seams of the shirt and extend it a little. Join the marking made in the previous step and this one.

This will make it a V-shape. If you want something more round, like I prefer it, make 90 degree angle with both the markings, like in Step I and make a curve at the vertex.
STEP V:
Cut along the edges. I have shown how both, round neck and V-shape would look.
STEP VI:
As shown, cut along the edges of the collar, for the back of the waist coat, if you want it collared, then skip this step.
STEP VII:
For the back, make a U-shape.
If you are keeping the collar, make two sides of a trapezium, just like in Step IV. Be careful with your measurements.
If you want the buttons stop here, and you have your waist coat ready, if you want to jazz it a little more, read on..
STEP VIII:
Hold the button right from the edge of the stitching, as shown in the picture and cut it off from there. Don't worry about the extra cuts, we need them.
STEP IX:
Hold the cut area, as in the picture, and cut it in a retina shape. Don't worry if it is untidy.
STEP X:
I have used a pink lace in this one, you can put in any ribbon or any piece of waste cloth, put it in the way you like it, there are many ways. You can check them out
here.
I added a little detail with the flower on the left shoulder. I made the flower myself. I shall go buy new ribbon and show how to make them as well.
AND FINALLY YOU'RE DONE!!!
Go flaunt it over racer backs, or tank tops or simple t-shirts or shirts to make them trendier! And this season, denim over denim isn't a sin, so bring out the 70s vibe in you and pair it with a denim shorts or just jeans.
I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did!
Do let me know if you try it!
Love
